Prevention & Wellness Programs

Our goal as a community health care system is to provide education, screening, programs and services to help build healthy communities. This goal is realized through programs that identify risk factors for illness or injury, such as HealthQuest Mobile Screening, The Screen Machine mobile cancer screening unit, and screenings held at community outreach sites. We provide community health education at hospitals, employer sites and community group meetings. We also host a variety of support groups.

Screening and education services are directed toward prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and support. Patients at risk for health problems may be referred to specific programs and services, including:

HealthQuest Mobile Screening

HealthQuest Mobile Screening identifies personal health practices and history that may place patients at risk for chronic diseases. We conduct a variety of health screenings to identify the risks, then provide education in the form of counseling, written materials and classes. Staffed by registered nurses, HealthQuest is a self-contained unit providing services in a variety of locations at a minimal charge.

Screenings take approximately 15 minutes and are conducted in early morning (a 12-hour fast is required for blood work). Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Comprehensive screenings nclude:

  • Detailed Health Questionnaire
  • Lipid Profile (total cholesterol, HDL ("good") cholesterol, LDL ("bad") cholesterol, triglycerides)
  • Fasting Blood Sugar
  • Height, Weight, Body Mass ndex
  • Waist/Hip Measurements
  • Blood Pressure

HealthQuest Mobile Screening provides on-site health education classes to corporate and community groups as well. If your group is interested in providing this service at your site, please call (912) 355-8456 or (92) 819-8577. Community screenings for individuals are held monthly at various convenient locations, and are advertised in the local media. Register by calling CareCall at (912) 819-3368.

The Screen Machine Mobile Screening

We offer private, confidential breast and skin cancer screenings on The Screen Machie, our state-of-the-art mobile screening unit. The Screen Machine is available to private and community groups throughout Savannah and Southeast Georgia. We will file your insurance or Medicare. If you do not have insurance or are underinsured you may be eligible for a free screening. Call (912) 354-9357 for more information.

You qualify for a screening mammogram if you:

  • Are at Least 40 Years of Age
  • Have No History of Breast Cancer or Breast Surgery
  • Do Not Have Breast Implants
  • Have No Current Breast Problems
  • Are Not Pregnant or Nursing
