Mary Kay Andrews to speak at St. Joseph's/Candler Smart Women event

New York Times bestseller and part-time Tybee Island resident Mary Kay Andrews will speak at the 7th Annual Smart Women Luncheon and Expo.

Mary Kay Andrews is the New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of Deep Dish, Savannah Breeze, Blue Christmas, Hissy Fit, Little Bitty Lies, and Savannah Blues, all published by HarperCollins. She published 10 critically-acclaimed mysteries under her real name, Kathy Hogan Trocheck, before launching her debut as women's fiction novelist Mary Kay Andrews. Her mysteries have been nominated for the Edgar, Anthony, Agatha, and Macavity Awards.

She got her start at the Savannah Morning News in the 1980s.

A sought-after speaker known for her sparkling wit and a teacher in demand for her pragmatic and inspiring approach to writing and publishing commercial fiction, Andrews' recent speaking and teaching engagements have included the Savannah Book Festival, Antioch Writer's Workshop, Romance Writer's of America National conference, Public Library Association National Winter conference, Charleston (S.C.) Andrews is a former journalist who spent 10 years as a feature writer for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In addition to being a writer, she is a lifelong 'junker' who knows the location of every promising thrift store, flea market, and junkpile in the Southeastern United States, plus many parts of Ohio.

The mother of two grown children, Andrews is a graduate of The University of Georgia, and lives with her husband of 31 years in a restored 1926 Craftsman bungalow in Atlanta.
