Southeast Georgia's oldest health care institutions, St. Joseph's Hospital and Candler Hospital, came together as one health system in 1997, making us the largest and most experienced health care provider in the area.

St. Joseph’s/Candler finds it strength from the sum of its core parts. The fundamental reasons for the joint operating agreement were to maintain local control and decision-making of our community's health care, and increase services by reducing duplicative ones. During its first year, St. Joseph's/Candler generated more than $13 million in operational cost savings, while expanding health services.

The network of health care services offered by St. Joseph's/Candler provides expanded, comprehensive services. Now, in almost every community in Southeast Georgia and adjacent South Carolina counties, a St. Joseph's/Candler service provider is conveniently available.
