Named in honor of the Sisters of Mercy and their nearly 200-year mission of service to the underserved and impoverished of coastal Georgia, the Angels of Mercy advance and enhance the mission, vision and values of St. Joseph/Candler through community volunteerism. The volunteer corps is comprised of St. Joseph's/Candler employees and family members who give their free time to support local community agencies and other not-for-profit social organizations. A past recipient of the J C Penny Golden Rule Volunteer Group of the Year Award, the Angels recently celebrated 10 years of helping others and have logged over 25,000 volunteer man-hours of community support.
