St. Joseph's/Candler Foundations' annual event proceeds benefit services, programs and continuing education for staff and nurses. The Foundations work with volunteer committees to host some of the region's most unique and successful events, including:

Smart Women Luncheon & Expo

- To benefit the Mary Telfair Women's Hospital at St. Joseph's/Candler.

More than 1000 people attended this year's Smart Women Luncheon & Expo, featuring Ellen Burstyn, held on September 19, 2007, at the Savannah Convention & Trade Center. Prior to the luncheon, attendees enjoyed a business expo showcasing the latest trends in business, finance and health care.

Smart Women has raised over $90,000. Next year's event will be held in September. Be on the lookout for the announcement of 2008's speaker.

Kiss A Kid Campaign

- To benefit The Children's Place pediatric services.

The sixth annual Kiss A Kid campaign benefiting The Children's Place at St. Joseph's/Candler was an overwhelming success this year. The campaign raised $3,500 for The Children's Place, a special unit for sick and injured children. Special die-cut "kisses," shaped after the famous Hershey's Kiss(r), were sold for $1 at over 27 local businesses, including all Savannah-area Piggly Wiggly(r) stores. All proceeds from this event will be used to purchase new sleeper chairs for The Children's Place. These chairs are located in the patient's room and can be adjusted to the size of a twin bed for family members that choose to spend the night with their sick child.
