The St. Joseph's/Candler Foundations' planned giving program offers financial and tax advantages to donors and their estates. Often, a planned gift provides life income to the donor and their beneficiaries. With the advice of a trusted financial advisor and our staff, you can establish a planned gift that provides the greatest benefit to you, your family and St. Joseph's/Candler.
- Legacy Gifts - After providing for your loved ones, you may decide to give a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or all or part of what remains to St. Joseph's/Candler. This type of planned gift is as simple as adding a codicil to your existing will.
- Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRT) - This is the most flexible of all planned giving arrangements because it not only helps St. Joseph's/Candler fulfill its mission well into the future, but also helps you during your lifetime. A CRT can supplement your retirement income or fund a child's education.
- Charitable Gift Annuity - In exchange for a transfer of cash, marketable securities or, under certain circumstances, real estate, St. Joseph's/Candler Foundations contractually guarantee to pay a specified annuity amount to you and/or another beneficiary upon reaching retirement age. You can claim a current charitable tax deduction for a portion of the transferred amount to fund the annuity; a portion of each annuity payment is received tax-free.
- Deferred Gift Annuity - A deferred gift annuity is established prior to retirement, usually between the ages of 40 and 60. Although the deferred gift annuity payments begin at a future time (usually at retirement), you realize an immediate charitable deduction for the gift portion of the annuity principal.
Whether your charitable goals are to provide immediate support with an annual gift of cash or to ensure that St. Joseph's/Candler has the charitable resources well into future through a planned gift, know that your support is special and meaningful to our mission.
Please consult with your financial advisor, accountant or attorney to discuss which charitable giving scenario is most advantageous for your particular financial and estate-planning needs.
