Savannah Parkinson Support Group
Since its origination in 1992 at St. Joseph's/Candler, the Savannah Parkinson Support Group has grown to be one of the largest and most active Parkinson's disease support organizations in the state.

The organization has been a strong supporter of the St. Joseph's/Candler effort to establish a Movement Disorder Program and become a National Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence.

This grassroots effort provides support and education to families in Savannah and the surrounding area who have been affected by Parkinson's disease. Monthly educational programs help individual patients and their caregivers develop a deeper understanding of the disease and how to cope with it. The group meets the first Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Marsh Auditorium of Candler Hospital.

Parkinson's in the Park

The purpose of Parkinson's in the Park is:

  • to raise community awareness of Parkinson's disease-to show the human side of the disease
  • to help our family and friends in their struggle to understand how and why this has happened to their loved one
  • to help find a cure.
