At the Telfair BirthPlace, we have vast experience helping mothers give birth. We understand that having a baby is not just a physical experience but also a wonder full of emotions and questions as you enter a new phase in your life. We're just as prepared for a typical, natural delivery as we are for more complicated ones.
The Telfair BirthPlace has 25 comfortable mother/baby rooms and 14 labor and delivery rooms. If a cesarean section is necessary, our experienced and caring perioperative surgical teams and compassionate in-house obstetrical anesthesiologists are available whether you go into labor during the day or in the middle of the night. For infants who are born with special health needs, we're prepared to give the best care possible in our antenatal testing area and Level II special care nursey/NICU.

Baby-Friendly Designated Birth Facility
St. Joseph's/Candler's Candler Hospital, home of the Telfair BirthPlace, has received prestigious international recognition as a Baby-Friendly Designated birth facility. Candler Hospital received the recognition from Baby-Friendly USA, the U.S. authority for the implementation of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative ("BFHI"), a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Telfair Baby Mobile App
To make it even more convenient and informative to prepare for your Telfair Baby, the Telfair BirthPlace at St. Joseph’s/Candler has updated its free Telfair Baby app. The app is available via YoMingo. It covers all sorts of topics throughout pregnancy to labor and delivery to postpartum and newborn care.

Visiting hours on the Mother-Baby Unit are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mom can have a limited number of guests during labor and delivery at any hour of the day.
