Help us help the women of the Coastal Empire by donating to the Telfair Mammography Fund

We noticed a few years ago that some women were skipping their annual mammograms. It turned out that they didn't have insurance or their insurance wouldn't cover the screening or co-pay.

Maria Small used the Telfair Mammography Fund and was diagnosed with cancer. Her story from WSAV is below.

After all the breast cancer patients we've seen over the years and research conducted across the nation, it's clear that catching cancer early gives patients the best chance of survival. The recent rise in mammography rates coincides with the drop in breast cancer deaths.

So to help the uninsured women get a life-saving we started the Telfair Mammography fund. Thousands of women have used it to get mammograms and other breast health tests.

Unfortunately, we are now seeing an alarming increase in the numbers of women who have lost their insurance because of the economy and have applied for assistance from the Mammography Fund.

During the last three years use of the Mammography Fund has increased almost 1,000 percent.

We are reaching out to the community to help us help those in need. If you can make a donation, please do.
