SHAPEDOWN Summer Camp at St. Joseph’s/Candler

SHAPEDOWN is the nation’s leading weight management program for children.

St. Joseph’s/Candler presents SHAPEDOWN: an age-specific, behavior modification intervention that addresses the food, activity, psychosocial and family system issues, which frequently underlie weight or eating problems. Participants are taught specific skills to remedy problems identified by the professional staff at the beginning of the program.

The basic SHAPEDOWN summer camp is a two week camp.

When: 8:30 to 4:30. June 18-29 or July 9-20.
Where: The Wellness Center at Candler Hospital, 5353 Reynolds St.
Who: Children ages 6-12
Cost: $333 for two weeks. A limited number of scholarships are available. Find out more by calling 912-819-8800.

This intensive program gives effective SHAPEDOWN skills and confidence to participants and parents alike. Participants will have a fantastic time, enjoying fun fitness activities including kid’s yoga, exploring walking trails, Kid Fit aerobics, and swimming. Participants will also learn basic skills to lose weight, and improve confidence and self-esteem.

SHAPEDOWN’s goal is to promote successive small changes in behavior that create a new lifestyle for the child and family. It is a low-risk program that avoids aggressive or potentially harmful techniques such as very low-calorie or restrictive diets. The emphasis is on producing changes now that can be sustained for a lifetime. This will help the child go on to a life that is free from dieting and weight concerns.
