Services Available
Basic Diabetes Education
This program includes one-on-one sessions for type one and type two patients, as well as group sessions with our multidisciplinary team. A specific plan of care and individualized patient goals are developed. Group sessions provide information on chronic ongoing skills and education pertinent to living with diabetes.
Gestational Diabetes Education
This program includes one-on-one sessions with a registered nurse, registered dietitian and diabetes educators for intensive, personalized instruction on gestational diabetes, nutrition, monitoring and insulin administration.
Insulin Pump Education
This program focuses on individualized instruction from a registered nurse, registered dietitian and diabetes educators for insulin pump therapy education. Intense, personalized education includes carbohydrate counting, insulin pump operations and all aspects of day-to-day living with an insulin pump.
Juvenile Diabetes Education
This unique educational series is geared specifically toward children, teens and their families. One-on-one sessions with the multidisciplinary team use age-specific curricula, creative resources and tools to teach children and their families skills to manage diabetes.
Camp CoDiaK
Diabetes summer camp is a week-long, overnight camping experience for children ages 6-13. Camp CoDiaK is held June 26-July 1 2011 at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center, a beautiful wooded, historical site located in Rincon, Georgia. Certified diabetes educators serve as on-site staff, including nurses, dietitians and other healthcare professionals. At specific times each day, staff tests the campers' blood sugar and provides snacks. Our goals are to:
- offer a fun, safe environment with medical supervision
- encourage diabetes self-management skills
- stimulate interaction among diabetics.
Supervised camp activities include:
- tennis
- volleyball
- basketball
- challenge courses
- games
- arts and crafts
- swimming
- fishing
- paddle boats.
