Overview

St. Joseph's/Candler is one of 32 health systems in the country to achieve accreditation by the American College of Surgeons as a network facility. St. Joseph's/Candler serves a base population of over 630,000 people located in Coastal Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry.

As a participant in the National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Centers Program (NCCCP), one of only 16 original sites selected in 2007, the LCRP is quickly becoming a national destination for comprehensive cancer care. Since then, the program has expanded to include 21 hospitals nationwide.

The NCCCP was designed to:

  • Establish a network of community cancer centers that provide the latest and most advanced cancer care to patients within their own communities
  • Set national standards for community cancer centers
  • Provide community cancer centers with the tools and knowledge necessary to offer state-of-the-art cancer care.

The NCCCP has seven primary areas of focus: disparities, clinical trials, quality of care, information technology, survivorship and palliative care, biospecimens and advocacy-all of which are at the core of everything we do.

Our program includes:

In addition to inpatient and outpatient services, the LCRP offers numerous community outreach efforts including educational forums, prevention awareness efforts, health screenings and survivorship.
