Continuing Medical Education
Continuing medical education (CME) programs develop and/or increase the knowledge, skills and professional performance physicians use to provide services for patients, the public and the profession. CME fosters learning, ongoing improvement and exemplary clinical practices.
St. Joseph’s/Candler was recently recognized by the Medical Association of Georgia for Accreditation with commendation for its CME program—only the second organization in the state and the first in this region to receive this honor.
We provide a variety of CME educational activities, including continuing conferences that meet bi-weekly, special workshops and regional/national conferences. Specific programs focusing on prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment include:
- Cancer conference - Patient cases and educational topics are presented and discussed every other week. Participants represent cancer sub-specialists (surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists), primary care physicians and multidisciplinary support staff.
- Cancer workshops and conferences.
Local and regional events feature speakers from the St. Joseph’s/Candler medical staff, the Moffitt Cancer Center and other prestigious organizations.
