Gynecological Oncology

Edward Richards, M.D.

Dr. Edward Richards received his medical degree from the Texas Tech University  Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. His residency in obstetrics and gynecology was at Scott & White Memorial Hospital and Clinic, Texas A&M University College of Medicine.

He is fellowship trained in gynecologic oncology. He holds a Specialty Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Subspecialty Board Certification in Gynecologic Oncology from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Tania Morgan-Bowen, M.D.

Dr. Tania Morgan-Bowen received her medical degree from Flinders University of South Australia and residency at New England Medical Center/Tufts University of Boston.

Dr. Morgan-Bowen also holds a Masters in Public Health from Emory University and is the Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Medical College of GA.

Dr. Morgan has been in private practice since 2000 and has been board certified since 2001.

Alan E. Smith, M.D.
 
Dr. Smith graduated from the Mercer University School of Medicine in 1991, then completed his Ob/Gyn residency training at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah.  He has been in private practice with Savannah Ob/Gyn since 1995, and is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
 
Dr. Smith trained on the DaVinci robot system in the spring and summer of 2011. He is currently perfoming hysterectomies, surgery for endometriosis, pelvic adhesions, and pelvic pain with the DaVinci, as well as removing fibroid tumors.

Soumya Reddy Neravetla

Soumya NeravetlaDr. Neravetla graduated from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. She performed her residency in General Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, her residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. She was a Thoracic Robotic Fellow in the Baptist Health System in Miami.  

Dr. Neravetla comes to Savannah after completing a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement fellowship at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta.

Urogynecology Surgery

Joseph T. Stubbs III, M.D.

Dr. Stubbs received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He then completed his OB/GYN residency at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. After years of private practice, he began the first of two fellowships at Emory University in Atlanta in 2002. The first was Pelvic Surgery Fellowship, and the second was the Urogynecology/Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship.

Dr. Stubbs returned to Savannah to open the Savannah Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery Center in August 2004. Dr. Stubbs is the only fellowship-trained, board-certified Pelvic Reconstructive Surgeon in the Region.

Buffi G. Boyd, M.D.

Dr. Boyd received her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. It was also at the Medical College that Dr. Boyd completed her General Surgery Internship and her Urology Residency.

Dr. Boyd began her private practice in Savannah in 2004, and has been Board Certified in Urology since 2006.

David L. Cheng, M.D.

Dr. Cheng received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, New York, New York. His internship and residency in General Surgery and Urology were performed at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Cheng has been Board Certified in Urology since 1997 and has been in private practice in Savannah since 1994.

John William Coursey, M.D.

Dr. Coursey received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. His residency in urological medicine was performed at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. After completing his residency, Dr. Coursey served as a Staff Urologist and later as Chief of Urology at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Dr. Coursey became a Diplomat in the American Board of Urology in 2003. Dr. Coursey received many honors and awards during his service in the military and is now in private practice in Savannah.

Michael J. Cox, M.D.

Dr. Cox received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa. His internship and residency was performed at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Samuel A. Torres, M.D.

Dr. Torres received his medical degree from the University of the Philippines. He completed his internship at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and his General Surgery Residency at the State University of New York's Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

Dr. Torres completed his Urology Residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. Georgia, and received his Fellowship in Urology from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Torres has been in private practice in Savannah since 1973, and has been Board Certified in Urology since 1975.
