St. Joseph's/Candler finds the best and brings it home, just for you.
Our committment to aquire the latest and best technologies means we have many revolutionary procedures and equipment that you won't find anywhere else in the region.
The CyberKnife
The Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion at SJ/C is the only place in the region to offer the CyberKnife. It has pinpoint precision to deliver higher doses of radition to tumors and minimizes damage to the healthy tissue surrounding the tumor.
da Vinci Xi and Si Robotic Surgical Systems
Our surgeons perform revolutionary procedures with faster healing using the da Vinci Surgical System. Using da Vinci, surgeons are able to provide patients with surgical options previously unavailable. SJ/C now has four da Vinci robots, including the only Xi model in the region.
3D mammography
New mammography technology can help doctors see breast abnormalities more clearly, especially in women with denser breasts. 3D mammography been shown in trials to improve cancer detection by 27 percent and invasive cancer detection by 40 percent, it can reduce the number of times women are called back for a follow-up mammogram.
3D laparoscopy
New technology provides better depth perception for minimally invasive laparoscopic gyn surgeries at St. Joseph's/Candler.
3T MRI
St. Joseph's/Candler is the only place in the region with the 3T MRI, the most advanced magnetic resonance system available. Not only is it quieter and can be less closterphobic, but it can detect problems other MRI machines cannot.
LINX Anti-Reflux Management System
St. Joseph's/Candler was the first in the region to perform a new procedure to reduce chronic acid reflux.
The LINX Reflux Management System, developed by Torax Medical, Inc., is a small, circular band of interlinked titanium beads with magnetic cores. Placed around the esophagus, this band of beads augments the natural function of the lower esophageal sphincter, or LES, through magnetic attraction.
And there is more.
Because time is the key to recovery in stroke patients, we developed Stroke NET-work, which allows the neurologists at St. Joseph's/Candler to diagnose and treat stroke patients from Effingham to Vidalia to Jesup from Savannah. Stroke NET-work is powered by REACH Call, a technology developed at the Medical College of Georgia.
Pulmonologists who use InReach can now reach farther into the lungs than ever before. At a time when lung cancer is the most prevalent cancer, our phsyciains are the only in the region who can use InReach to place a gold seed in lung tumors, ensuring radiation treatments accurately hit the tumor.
