National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers accredits the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion at St. Joseph’s/Candler

"This tells patients that we were vigorously reviewed and proved to be providing the highest
levels of breast care,” said Dr. Howard A. Zaren, Medical Director of the Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion. “Whatever breast problem they have we have the answer for.”

The Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion at St. Joseph’s/Candler is one of only 11 accredited breast centers in Georgia. 

The accreditation recognizes the complete spectrum of breast services available at the Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion through St. Joseph’s/Candler, from mammography to surgery to radiation oncology. 

Staff from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers reviews 27 different components that make up a breast center. 
Receiving care at a National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers-accredited center ensures that a patient will have access to:

• Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options

The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to the improvement of the quality of care and monitoring of outcomes of patients with diseases of the breast. This mission is pursued through standard-setting, scientific validation, and patient and professional education.
