Financial Navigator now available at the Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion
The Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion provides comprehensive cancer care to patients, and to further that care, a full time Financial Navigator is now available to support patients needing assistance.
The Financial Navigator assists patients in understanding their financial obligations and choices including:
- Understanding their financial responsibility for their treatment
- Understanding their insurance and what is covered
- Exploring available payment options
- Looking for available assistance programs, such as drug co-pay
- Looking at government program qualifications, such as Medicaid or disability
A cancer diagnosis can be frightening and stressful and financial burdens should not hinder the healing process. The services provided by the Financial Navigator are free to all patients, including those patients being treated in South Carolina. The Financial Navigator is located in the Radiation Oncology suite at the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion and available in person, by phone, or by email Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments are not necessary. When should I see the Financial Navigator?
This is entirely up to you. Between receiving a cancer diagnosis and the one month follow up visit after finishing treatments, all patients are welcome to meet with the Financial Navigator at any time.
If I don’t have insurance can I still meet with the Financial Navigator?
Yes. Our Financial Navigator will meet with any patient receiving treatment at LCRP. Our Financial Navigator will work hard to find assistance programs and payment options for all patients.
Do I need a referral to see the Financial Navigator?
No, a referral is not necessary. Your physician or nurse navigator may recommend the service also.
Do I have to meet with the Financial Navigator in person?
The Financial Navigator is available in person, by phone or via email to any patient receiving services at the LCRP and St. Joseph’s/Candler.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment is necessary. Calling the navigator before you stop by is helpful just to confirm availability.
Can I bring family members with me when I visit the Financial Navigator?
Yes. A strong support system is extremely valuable. Please note, however, that sensitive financial matters might be discussed during your visit.
Does it cost me anything to talk to the Financial Navigator?
No, this service is completely free to all patients.
