Valve Replacement with Innovative TAVR Procedure

Following a patient’s visit to The Valve Clinic, the experts at The Heart Hospital may recommend a patient consider valve repair or valve replacement including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).  St. Joseph’s/Candler’s hybrid operative suite allows cardiovascular surgeons and interventional cardiologists to work together on this innovative procedure allows a cardiovascular surgeon and interventional cardiologist to work together on a minimally invasive approach for correcting severe aortic stenosis. 

While open valve surgery is still the traditional treatment method for severe aortic stenosis, TAVR provides an option for those patients who may not qualify for an open heart approach based on their age, frailty or other medical conditions. By working together in a new state-of-the-art hybrid operative suite, these experts can now use an improved and minimally invasive approach for improved patient outcomes.
