Emergency Care Services at St. Joseph's/Candler

If you have an emergency at this time, please call 911.

Our emergency departments provide confidential, compassionate, state-of-the-art care for patients of all ages. We care for those with all types of health problems, including critical and potentially life-threatening conditions without regard to social or economic status, disability, literacy or native language. Additionally, we are proud to play an integral role in the safety of Chatham County residents through our disaster preparedness efforts.

Patients are seen and evaluated by the emergency department physician, a family nurse practitioner or a physician's assistant. Interpreters, social workers, spiritual care providers, volunteers and other services are available to provide support and comfort to our patients.

Our departments are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with highly trained and credentialed emergency staff, with specialists on call for consultation. Our physicians are board certified and trained in emergency medicine; our expert nursing staff is credentialed in basic, advanced and pediatric life support, while our well-trained ancillary staff is proficient in basic life support.
