Why does a successful health system like St. Joseph’s/Candler need donations from the community?

Patient revenue continues to decline as all hospitals experience the effects of the economic environment we live in today. However, we still have an obligation to our community to provide state-of-the art, life-saving equipment, expanded facilities to meet growing demand, greater access to those who do not have the ability to pay and the highest quality of patient care. While we are able to achieve many of these goals by running our operations as efficiently as possible, it cannot make up for the losses experienced when we are paid only a fraction of the cost of care provided to many of our patients. Charitable contributions will enable St. Joseph’s/Candler to continue to achieve these advances and changes in the delivery of healthcare for our community.

What is St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundations?

The St. Joseph's and Candler Foundations are both not-for profit 501(c)3 organizations.  Operating jointly, we are committed to providing philanthropic support so that St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System can fulfill its mission:  Rooted in God’s love, we treat illness and promote wellness for all people.

How will my gift be used?

Charitable gifts contributed to St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundations, unless specifically restricted by the donor, are granted by the Joint Board of Trustees to the areas of greatest need and highest priority within the system.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes!  The St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundations are private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organizations, whose gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Why should I give to St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundations?

St. Joseph’s/Candler is the largest and most experienced healthcare provider in the region.  But it is also a community hospital system who must remain financially viable in order to serve and invest in the needs of our community.  We are committed to providing smart, quality healthcare. When individuals choose to invest in the health and wellbeing of our community by supporting our system, it is one of the most worthwhile and fulfilling ways of making a difference – today and into the future.
