St. Mary’s Health Center: Committed to Health Equity
What began in 2003 as a small 10 x 10 space within St. Mary’s Community Center has since grown into a vital hub of care for uninsured adults in our region. The early support of the Armstrong State University nursing department (now part of Georgia Southern University), HRSA federal grants, and the leadership of St. Joseph’s/Candler laid the foundation for what is now a thriving health resource in the heart of Savannah.

In 2008, St. Mary’s Health Center moved to a more central location on Drayton Street, expanding its reach and accessibility. Today, we are proud members of the Georgia Free Clinic Network and the National Association of Free Clinics, reinforcing our commitment to providing high-quality care without financial barriers. Health is a basic right for all people, and money should be the last barrier for any person seeking health services.
A free medical home centered in empathy and excellence
At St. Mary’s Health Center, we offer a free Primary Care Medical Home for uninsured adults. Our team includes nurse practitioners, medical assistants, administrative staff, and a committed network of volunteers, all united by a common mission: to ensure that every person, regardless of income, has access to the care they need to live a healthy life.
Through our partnership with St. Joseph’s/Candler, we provide a wide range of essential services, including chronic disease management, preventive cancer screenings, access to free and reduced-cost medications and referral-based specialty care.
Here, quality clinical care is not a privilege, but a promise.
