The Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion is committed to raising cancer awareness in our community. Because prevention, early detection and treatment are essential to lowering cancer risks, we believe community education and outreach is one of the most important steps to improving the overall health of our region.
As the bridge to our community, the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion raises awareness of cancer risks and screenings through a variety of events around the Savannah area.

Health and Wellness Centers Around Savannah
St. Mary’s Community Center
St. Mary's Community Center serves the Cuyler-Brownsville neighborhood, a struggling African-American community in Savannah. St. Mary’s works alongside neighborhood residents to improve their quality of life through assistance in three major areas: basic needs, education/job training and health services. Health services include daily blood pressure checks and blood sugar screenings, a weekly cardiovascular clinic for high blood pressure, quarterly mammography and cervical cancer screenings, a weight-loss program and annual prostate screenings and flu vaccinations.
The St. Mary's Health Center opened on April 29, 2006, for free health care of uninsured citizens of Chatham County. The Health Center provides non-emergent care, free prescriptions and links patients with the Community HealthCare Center. The medical staff consists of two physicians, two nurse practitioners, volunteers and two part-time paid OB/GYN physicians.
African-American Health Information & Resource Center
In partnership with the 100 Black Men of Savannah, St. Joseph’s/Candler conducts health screenings and sponsors events specifically targeted to the African-American community’s healthcare concerns at the African-American Health Information & Resource Center.
Good Samaritan Clinic
In 2007, the Good Samaritan Clinic opened to serve the growing numbers of those without health insurance. The staff at the Good Samaritan Clinic is comprised of volunteer doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical interpreters, and clerical workers. Each staff member is trained to provide quality healthcare to patients.
