The Mary Telfair Mission: Why Your Donation Matters

St. Joseph’s/Candler believes no woman should have to worry about paying or struggle to pay for potentially life-saving screenings or treatments. As part of the legacy Mary Telfair began, the St. Joseph's/Candler Mammography Fund was proudly created in 2005.

The Telfair Mammography Fund provides no-cost breast health services to uninsured and underinsured women (and men) throughout our community. These services include screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds, MRIs, image-guided breast biopsies, surgical costs where appropriate, and more — all critical care that would otherwise be out of reach.

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Early detection is one of the most powerful tools we have, and the survival rate climbs dramatically when disease is caught early. But that early detection only works if women can actually get screened. Donate today to ensure detection for the members in your community who need it the most.

Telfair Mammography Fund Donation Events

Every year, generous individuals, businesses, and organizations across Savannah come together to keep the Telfair Mammography Fund strong for women who need it most. Besides generous contributions from our donors, below are some of the ongoing efforts that help make no-cost mammograms and breast health services possible for uninsured and underinsured women in our community.

Paint the Town Pink

Paint the Town Pink is St. Joseph's/Candler's month-long breast cancer awareness campaign, held each October in partnership with the Savannah Morning News. Throughout the month, local businesses, organizations, and community partners host events, promotions, and fundraisers to support the Telfair Mammography Fund and bring the community together in the fight against breast cancer.

SmartWomen® Luncheon & Expo

The SmartWomen® Luncheon & Expo is St. Joseph's/Candler's signature annual fundraiser held each fall, benefiting the Mary Telfair Women's Hospital and its Mammography Fund at Telfair Pavilion. The event draws well over a thousand women for a day of vendors, health education, and an inspiring keynote speaker.
