Meet Captain Judy Helmey
A fixture on Savannah's waterways for decades, Captain Judy Helmey is the owner of Miss Judy Charters, an inshore, offshore and Gulf Stream fishing Charter Company. Her fleet includes three offshore boats and seven inshore boats. Captain Judy followed in her father's footsteps. Captain Sherman Helmey and a young Judy fished in many fishing tournaments together, and he named several of his boats Miss Judy after his daughter. Captain Judy also is a published author, penning the book, "My Father, the Sea & Me." Today, Captain Judy continues her father's legacy offering customized fishing journeys for others to make life-long memories on the water. The goal of the Mary Telfair Women's Hospital and the Mammography Fund is to ensure that all women have access to mammography, even if they have no insurance and cannot afford it. The SmartWomen Luncheon & Expo has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Telfair Mammography Fund to meet this goal since its inception over a decade ago.
