Meet Fran Kaminsky

Fran Kaminsky is the former Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at South College (now South University). Additionally, throughout her professional and retirement years, Fran has been involved in leadership roles with numerous community organizations, including Hospice Savannah, Union Mission, United Way, Rotary Club of Savannah and Mountainfilm on Tour. Her family played a key role in supporting the creation and maintenance of Camp Aloha, a Hospice Savannah grief camp for children. After retiring from education, Fran found a new interest: sculpting.  Along-time admirer of such notable sculptors as Glenna Goodacre, Frederick Hart, and Henry Moore, Fran began to pursue the craft herself through attending workshops and finding talented teacher-mentors. Fran's sculptures are currently featured at the Four Corners Gallery in Bluffton, South Carolina. Fran's video is sponsored by Capt. Lux and Kay Lakshman.

Special thanks to WTOC for producing all the SmartWomen videos.

Make a donation in Fran's honor

We hope you are as inspired by Fran Kaminsky as we are and would consider making a donation to the Telfair Mammography Fund in her honor. The goal of the Mary Telfair Women's Hospital and the Mammography Fund is to ensure that all women have access to mammography, even if they have no insurance and cannot afford it. The SmartWomen Luncheon & Expo has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Telfair Mammography Fund to meet this goal since its inception over a decade ago.
