FY18 Funding Highlights & Community Impact 
- Enhanced state-of-the-art patient beds for Candler Hospital
- Awarded scholarships for Children’s Wellness and Diabetes Camps
- Johnny’s Bridges to Hope support program for families with loved ones facing mental illness
- Nurse Navigation support for more than 600 cancer patients at the Nancy N. and J. C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion
- St. Mary’s Community Center – 60 new jobs earned; 252 Seniors assisted with health and housing needs; 6 children provided pre-school education; 659 eye exams/glasses provided; 395 job applications completed and submitted; 201 resumes typed; 7562 times people received free bread, sweets, veggies and fruit
- Cancer Survivorship support for patients in need – 14 patients received prescription assistance; 229 patients received wigs and garments; 83 patients received gas cards/transportation to their appointments; 11 families received 49 nights of lodging assistance
- Ultra sound machine for pre-surgical work-ups for oncology patients
- Movement Disorders patient support – 287 area residents received education on Movement Disorders; 449 patients helped through navigation services and free nursing consults *a number of these patients qualify as low income or indigent
- 3D mammography equipment for Mary Telfair Women’s Hospital
- Mammography for the under and uninsured – 629 screening mammograms; 2 breast MRIs; 27 diagnostic mammograms; 17 biopsies; 712 imaging services evaluated by radiologists; 37 breast ultrasounds
- Howard Hand in Hand support program for children – 172 children helped with coping with the serious illness of a parent or loved one *this is a free service offered to anyone in need
- Robotic surgery program support
- Provided scales for 50 low income patients with heart failure to help them with proactively managing their health
- More advanced equipment for improved transmission of EKGs from ambulance to Emergency Department while en route to hospital
- Awarded 7 nursing scholarships totaling more than $34,000
- 1,603 uninsured patients connected to a medical home (St. Mary’s Health Center & Good Samaritan Clinic) in partnership with Armstrong Georgia Southern University students in rotation at St. Joseph’s/Candler
