The Residency Class of 2022

Candler Hospital PGY1 Class of 2022

Dr. Amanda Bass, is originally from Shellman, GA. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA before earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South University in Savannah, GA. Dr. Bass’ professional interests include pediatrics, emergency medicine, and women’s health. Upon completion of her PGY1 pharmacy residency, Dr. Bass would like to complete a PGY2 in pediatrics or emergency medicine, with the ultimate goal of practicing as a board-certified clinical pharmacist. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys exploring Savannah with her husband and her dog Penny, movie nights, and reading books by the pool.

Dr. Patrick Barry, is originally from Panama City, Florida. He earned his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Florida before earning his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South University in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Barry’s professional interests include Emergency Medicine, Ambulatory Care, and liver disease. Upon completion of his PGY1 pharmacy residency, Dr. Barry would like to complete a PGY2 in Emergency medicine, with the ultimate goal of practicing as a board-certified clinical pharmacist working to advance the pharmacist scope of practice in Florida. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys tennis, animals, and hammocking.

Dr. Courtney Crosby, is originally from Rincon, Georgia. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in Athens, Georgia. Dr. Crosby's professional interests include critical care, infectious diseases, and internal medicine. Upon completion of her PGY1 pharmacy residency, Dr. Crosby would like to either complete a PGY2 in critical care or infectious diseases or pursue a career in internal medicine with the ultimate goal of practicing as a board-certified clinical pharmacist working in a community hospital setting. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys baking, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Erin Eickman, is originally from Salem, South Dakota. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Dr. Eickman’s professional interests include oncology and infectious disease. Upon completion of her PGY1 pharmacy residency, Dr. Eickman would like to complete a PGY2 in Oncology with the ultimate goal of practicing as a board-certified clinical pharmacist working in bone marrow transplant or solid tumor oncology. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys exploring Savannah, golfing, crocheting, and spending time with friends.

Dr. Connor Floyd, is originally from Hickory, North Carolina. He earned his undergrad degree and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in Columbia, South Carolina. Dr. Floyd’s professional interests include critical care and infectious disease. Upon completion of his PGY1 pharmacy residency, Dr. Floyd would like to complete a PGY2 in one of his interest areas, with the ultimate goal of practicing as a board-certified clinical pharmacist working in a community hospital setting and precepting students. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys caring for his two kittens, Raven and Minerva, playing piano, and exploring Savannah.

St. Joseph's/Candler PGY2 Critical Care

Dr. Mary Sheffield, is originally from Columbia, South Carolina. She earned her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in Columbia, South Carolina. Dr. Sheffield completed her PGY1 residency training here at St. Joseph's/Candler Health System, and her professional interests include critical care, infectious disease, and cardiology. Upon completion of her PGY2 critical care pharmacy residency, Dr. Sheffield would like to pursue a career in critical care pharmacy with the ultimate goal of practicing as a board-certified clinical pharmacist working in a medical/surgical intensive care unit. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, game nights, crafting, and road trips with her dog, Brody.

St. Joseph's/Candler PGY2 Emergency Medicine

Dr. Christian Ruiz, is originally from Chesapeake, Virginia. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry (with a Minor in Music) from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, before earning his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Ruiz’s professional interests include infectious diseases, cardiology, anticoagulant reversal, and resuscitation medicine. Upon completion of his PGY2 pharmacy residency, Dr. Ruiz would like to practice as a board-certified clinical pharmacist working in the emergency medicine or critical care setting. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys listening to and performing music, hammocking, playing with his dog Gigi.


St. Joseph's/Candler Ambulatory Care PGY2

Dr. Austin Rich, is originally from Miami, Florida. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Purdue University College of Pharmacy in West Lafayette, Indiana. Dr. Rich’s professional interests include diabetes management, and primary care in the outpatient setting. He completed his PGY1 pharmacy residency at Sullivan University College of Pharmacy in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Rich is currently completing his PGY2 in Ambulatory Care at St. Joseph’s/Candler, with the ultimate goal of practicing as a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys disc golf, fishing, and playing with his dog.

Dr. Kelly Brown,is originally from Raleigh, NC. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia before completing a PGY1 pharmacy residency at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Brown’s professional interests include internal medicine, cardiology, and transitions of care. Upon completion of her PGY2 ambulatory care pharmacy residency, Dr. Brown would like to pursue a career in a primary care or specialty clinic with the ultimate goal of practicing as a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys watching scary movies, trying new restaurants, and spending time outdoors with her dog, Captain.
