St. Joseph's/Candler has key partnerships to improve healthcare access and outcomes

St. Joseph's/Candler is affiliated with key local and regional healthcare institutions to ensure that our patients get the best possible care for any condition they have.

Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University

The Southeast Campus of the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is a health science university with schools of allied health sciences, dentistry, graduate studies, medicine and nursing. These programs are designed to give third and fourth year students a distinctive experience in education, training and life. The MCG School of Medicine has community education sites across southeast Georgia including right here at St. Joseph's/Candler in Savannah. Here, students find enthusiastic, accomplished physicians and first-class facilities that offer a blend of urban and rural medicine with an abundance of one-on-one learning experiences. Savannah also provides a beautiful setting to live in and unique opportunities to study industrial and international medicine.

Georgia Southern University

St. Joseph'/Candler and Georgia Southern University work together to develop future healthcare leaders and ensure those in our region have access to quality medical care. Many of Georgia Southern's nursing students receive education and train right alongside St. Joseph's/Candler's Magnet designated nurses.

Additionally, St. Joseph's/Candler donated $250,000 to Georgia Southern University and the new Waters College of Health Professionals building project on the Armstrong Campus. The funds will help construct the St. Joseph's/Candler Nursing Suite. Learn more.

University of Georgia

The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy's Southeast Georgia extended campus brings students to St. Joseph's/Candler and the beautiful Savannah region. At this location, pharmacy students receive training and education at pharmacy practice sites at chain and independent community pharmacies and physician offices. In addition to a variety of practice experiences, students also are offered the opportunity to apply for our postgraduate clinical pharmacy residency programs. Learn more about that here

Emory Healthcare

This partnership provides ongoing liver and kidney transplant services by the Transplant Section of The Emory Clinic. Local liver and kidney clinics are held monthly to provide patients in the community with access to transplant specialists without traveling to Atlanta.

Services include infusion and chemotherapy treatment for cancers and blood disorders. Our Hinesville facility offers state-of-the-art care available as part of the LCRP in the patient's own community right there in Liberty County.

GA NCORP

Developed by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) expands on the success of two previous programs that led U.S. efforts in cancer research. The selection includes a five-year, $5.85 million grant.

The partnership application was developed jointly by Northside Hospital Cancer Institute and the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion, part of St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System in Savannah. The partnership, which will implement the new research program, also includes the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (Georgia CORE).

The Georgia NCORP partnership will provide Georgians with deeper cancer services and broader regional accessibility, with 110 oncology clinical providers in 41 different locations throughout the state, as well as the clinical trial leadership and research management services of Georgia CORE.
