Angels of Mercy Volunteers

Named in honor of the Sisters of Mercy and their nearly 200-year mission of service to the poor and underserved of coastal Georgia, the Angels of Mercy Volunteers advance and enhance the mission, vision and values of St. Joseph's/Candler through community volunteerism.

The group began in 1996 in response to a community need for assistance with the Olympic Torch Run. Since that time, the group has found its purpose in assisting not-for-profit organizations and other local social agencies throughout coastal Georgia and the South Carolina low country.

Comprised of St. Joseph's/Candler co-workers, family members and friends, the group on average provides volunteer support to at least one community service project each month. A past recipient of the J C Penny Golden Rule Volunteer Group of the Year Award, the Angels recently celebrated 20 years of service having logged over 80,000 volunteer man-hours of community support during that time.
