St. Joseph's/Candler is a faith-based, not-for-profit health system serving 33 counties in southeast Georgia and anchored by two of the oldest hospitals in our country: St. Joseph's Hospital (founded in 1875) and Candler Hospital (founded in 1804). Together, they have 714 patient beds. 

Accredited by the Joint Commission, St. Joseph's/Candler is a proud five-time recipient of the Magnet designation for nursing excellence, a feat only accomplished by 22 other health systems in the world, putting our nurses in an elite class of professionals.

Located on Savannah's southside, St. Joseph's Hospital is a 330-bed acute care hospital founded in 1875 by the Sisters of Mercy. In addition to general services, St. Joseph's is known for its breakthrough technology, highly specialized treatments and advanced medical procedures in a number of areas such as Cardiovascular services at The Heart Hospital, neurological services at The Institute for Neurosciences and orthopedics with The Institute for Advanced Bone and Joint Surgery.

About Candler Hospital

Candler Hospital

Located in Savannah's midtown, Candler Hospital is Georgia's first hospital (1804) and the second oldest continuously operating hospital in the United States. The 384-bed facility is known for the finest in primary care, outpatient surgery and digestive diseases.

Mary Telfair Women's Hospital is located at Candler Hospital and is the region's undisputed leader in advanced obstetrical, gynecological, education and outpatient services for women and children. Located across the street on the Candler Campus is the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion, which provides patients with access to some of the most advanced oncology services in the Southeast.

About the LCRP

The Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion

Located in midtown Savannah across from Candler Hospital, the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion combines advanced technology and compassionate care to create one of the most innovative clinical oncology programs in the Southeast. 

The LCRP is home to a team of highly-trained cancer specialists that skillfully use high-impact technological screening and treatment options for optimal results. In addition, our team has access to nationally funded research and clinical trials and provides community outreach and education with an outstanding array of services specific to cancer patients and their families.

About SJ/C - Pooler Campus

SJ/C Pooler Campus

In 2019, St. Joseph's/Candler opened its Pooler Campus to bring a number of services to southwest Chatham County and surrounding communities. The Pooler Campus includes a 83,000-square-foot facility that houses numerous outpatient services including day surgery, primary care, physical therapy, imaging, laboratory and specialty offices, including the SJ/C Physician Network - Bone, Joint & Muscle Care office open five days a week. 

The building is designed with the latest technology advances that create a seamless experience for the patient. The 27-acre campus is located on Pooler Parkway near the intersection of Interstate 16.

About SJ/C - Bluffton Campus

SJ/C Bluffton Campus

In 2020, St. Joseph's/Candler opened its Bluffton Campus, located at Buckwalter Place, to expand access to high-quality healthcare services and state-of-the-art medical technology to a rapidly growing community. Phase One of the campus has an emphasis on oncology and a significant expansion of both our medical and radiation oncology services. The facility offers state-of-the-art medical equipment and features a linear accelerator for advanced radiation treatments, virtually eliminating the need for cancer patients to travel to Savannah for cancer care.

The Bluffton Campus offers many of the same services cancer patients in Savannah can get including nurse navigators, social workers, pastoral care and access to clinical trials and our clinical effectiveness teams.
