Under One Roof

The ability to offer multiple services can make life a little easier for cancer patients

When Pat Rentz has to travel in from Hinesville, GA, to see her doctor, pick up medicine, and purchase supplies from a boutique for cancer patients, she takes comfort in the fact that she will be able to do it all in one place.

“It’s nice to know that you can do everything under one roof,” Pat says. “Get your chemo, get your prescriptions, and—now that the Transformation Station has approval to accept Medicare—get whatever supplies you need.”

Pat often checked in with the Transformation Station, the boutique for cancer patients that sits on the first floor of the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion, about their Medicare status. Once the store was approved to accept Medicare, Pat found that the benefits of the boutique were worth the wait.

“The people in the Transformation Station are not only nice, but also very experienced,” she says. “They have a lot of supplies on hand, and if you do have to order anything, you get the items in a shorter amount of time than the other boutiques I‘ve dealt with.”

Rentz primarily uses the Transformation Station for bras and prostheses, but the boutique also sells bathing suits, hats, scarves, and wigs.

“I live out of town, and I’m sure other patients live out of town,” Pat says. “I’m sure that not having to run all over town for what you need is as comforting to others as it is to me.”
