About Russell C. Kirks Jr., MD
Born and raised in Savannah, Dr. Russell Kirks graduated from Savannah Christian before attending the University of Georgia. Dr. Kirks earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. He did a general surgery fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He then did a hepatobiliary surgery fellowship at Virginia Macon Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.
Dr. Kirks is the only board-certified, fellowship-trained hepatobiliary surgeon in the region and concentrates primary on diseases of the biliary system, which includes the liver and pancreas. He has a particular interest in pancreatic cancer. He is an established physician researcher and has written many articles in the field of hepatobiliary surgery.
