Personalized lactation support

Every mother and baby pair is different, and our lactation support services reflect that diversity. We offer private one-on-one consultations by appointment where you can ask questions, express your deep concerns and receive scientific evidence-based guidance from our experienced lactation specialists.

Our consultants will collaborate closely with you to understand your unique breastfeeding goals and challenges, creating a personalized plan that meets your needs through practical solutions. We also offer virtual consultations, giving you the flexibility to access care from the comfort of your home.

We know that breastfeeding can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially for first-time moms. That's why our staff is available to offer encouragement and expert advice, helping you feel more confident and comfortable in caring for your newborn.

Breastfeeding classes & workshops

We believe that preparation is key to a successful breastfeeding experience, which is why we offer a variety of breastfeeding classes and workshops. Led by our certified lactation consultants, these classes provide expecting parents with practical knowledge, hands-on demonstrations and the opportunity to ask questions in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Our classes cover everything from understanding your baby's hunger cues to mastering different breastfeeding positions that ensure comfort for both mom and baby. You will also learn how to troubleshoot common breastfeeding issues, such as engorgement and blocked ducts, and how to establish a good breastfeeding routine once you're home.

Our workshops also cover newborn care, giving you a holistic understanding of how to care for your baby in those important early days. Partners are encouraged to attend, as we offer tips on how they can actively support the breastfeeding process and contribute to creating a nurturing, supportive environment.

Lastly, we offer additional educational materials as a resource for you and your family. Access a wealth of educational resources, including articles and videos, to guide you through every step of caring for your baby and kickstarting your recovery.

Prenatal breastfeeding classes are held the first Saturday of each month at 1 p.m.

Our Baby-Friendly designation

At Mary Telfair Women’s Hospital, we take immense pride in being recognized as a Baby-Friendly Designated birth facility, a prestigious internationally recognized accreditation awarded by Baby-Friendly USA.
