We invite you to join the Bē Health Block Challenge
Gather your family, neighbors and friends for a month-long wellness challenge and earn points towards the top prize
Throughout the month of February and in recognition of Heart Health Awareness Month, Heartwood residents are invited to join the Bē Health Block Challenge. We will give you a list of activities that encourage healthy fitness, nutrition and mindfulness habits. The more you participate, the more points you will earn with a chance of winning one of our top prizes. Plus, each participant will receive a Bē Health Block Challenge shirt!
View a list of activities and points earned here
Each week throughout the challenge, we will ask you to report which independent activities you participated in and our Bē Health Navigator will track points for Bē Health activities. Team points will be given based on those activities and added up throughout the month and weighted based on size of each team.
The team who earns the most points will enjoy a Block Party Lowcountry Boil hosted by Heartwood. There will also be individual winners for overall male/female child and male/female adult.
You can participate in two ways. We encourage streets/blocks to form teams with a team captain and team name. Teams should have a minimum of three households, and team scores will be weighted based on the number of individuals per team. The minimum age to participate is 12.
Don't have enough neighbors on your block or street to form a team? You can still sign up, and we will help match you to a team. Not interested in a team but want to participate? No problem. Just indicate on the sign-up form your participation is "individual" only.
Next steps:
1. Choose a team captain and begin forming a team!
2. Come up with a team name. (We suggest you include your street or block name.)
3. Team captain registers team by filling out this form before Jan. 14th.
4. Team members need to register individually after team captain registers.
5. Anyone participating individually or on a team must sign up by Jan. 31st.
6. Team captain will pick up a challenge packet on Jan. 15th from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. or Jan. 16th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at The Outfitters. If you are unable to pick up your packet either of these days or sign up after the 16th, packets will be available in the Bē Health navigator's office at The Outfitters.
7. Each participant will receive an exclusive Bē Health Block Challenge shirt! For participants who sign up by Jan. 19th, shirts will be available for pick up Feb. 2nd. For those who sign up after the 19th, shirts will be available on Feb. 16th. Don't forget to include your shirt size on the registration form!
8. Participate in activities between Feb. 1st - March 2nd and self-report your independent activities weekly by midnight each Sunday on a form on this webpage. The final submission is due by midnight on March 3. The Bē Health Navigator will keep track of your reports when you participate in a Bē Health scheduled class, health screening, special program or group activity.
9. Team scores will be posted each Tuesday throughout the month.
