How to join the team

St. Joseph’s/Candler currently has a laser focus to hire the brightest and the best nurses and to provide venues for increased nursing satisfaction. The health system is always looking for experienced nurses and encourages new hires to look into our ANCC Accredited Nursing Residency Program. The Nursing Residency Program is a special program designed for newly graduated registered nurses to facilitate the transition of the novice nurse from the classroom to the clinical environment. The program includes:

  • General orientation
  • Nursing orientation
  • Computer orientation
  • Clinical preceptorship

If you are a student in pursuit of your registered nurse degree, then St. Joseph’s/Candler has an opportunity for you. S.T.E.P.  (Student Training Employment Partnership) is designed to assist students in pursuit of their RN degree by offering a flexible work schedule, paid positions, mentor partnership, financial incentives and encouragement. The program requires a minimum of 24 hours of work each week, satisfactory work performance, regular mentor meetings and semester/quarterly meetings with the program coordinator.

To qualify for S.T.E.P. you must:

  • Be enrolled in a BSN program
  • Have completed your first semester of your junior year (Fundamentals of Nursing)
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
