BRAG-Onc - Medical College of Georgia Tumor Tissue and Serum Repository - Central Biorepository Alliance of Georgia-Oncology
Description
The goal of the BRAG-Onc Program is to establish a state-wide mechanism for the banking of tumor tissue and matched serum samples from a population that reflects the ethnic and cultural diversity of the state in order to support basic abd clinical research. This resource should fuel the process of discovery for the development of effective therapies and preventative measures to decrease the burden of, and ultimately eradicate malignant diseases for all citizens of Georgia. By representing patients of all ethnicities, from both rural and urban environments, this valuable resource will foster efforts to understand mechanisms responsible for disparities in the incidence and behavior of malignant diseases among different racial and ethnic groups. This process constitutes a critical companion for the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (GA-CORE), the statewide clinical oncology trials network.
