South Carolina Cancer Specialists serve LCRP patients in the Low Country

With two locations in the Low Country, SC Cancer Specialists offer advanced chemotherapy and other infusion services. Additionally, patients have access to the full range of services provided by the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion including genetic counseling, dietitian, survivorship program, board-certified pharmacists and clinical trials. Dr. Gary W. Thomas is the medical director of the St. Joseph’s/Candler-SC Cancer Specialists partnership. Dr. Thomas has been practicing oncology and hematology in the Low Country since 1993. He is joined by Dr. Gregory Haidemenos and Dr. J. Keegan Bakos.

The Highest Quality Cancer Care

SC Cancer Specialists successfully completed a three-year certification program for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that meet nationally recognized standards for quality cancer care. It is the only practice in the Low Country and Savannah region to earn the certification. The recognition comes from the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative Certification Program (QOPI).

About Gregory M. Haidemenos, MD

Dr. Gregory Haidemenos earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. He earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and did his internal medicine residency at Roger Williams Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, Boston University School of Medicine in Providence, RI. He went on to do a fellowship in hospice and palliative care at The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, followed by a fellowship in hematology oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston where he was chief fellow. Dr. Haidemenos is board certified in medical oncology and hospice and palliative care. He is licensed to practice medicine in Georgia and South Carolina. He is a member of the South Carolina Oncology Society, South Carolina Medical Society, American College of Physicians and American Medical Association.
